From the wrong place to sand and into the air – Action world travel I

Finally normal internet. You get to appreciate the small things in life.

Today we will again let you have – picture spamming!!!

Our last post ended in the nice national park and Islas Balestas in Paracas. From there we went on with the Bus to Ica. In Ica we booked a hostel and wanted to do a tour into the desert. That sounded like a plan.

Si, si, si, uno momento, si, si si. – The wrong way 1

Our hostel had the nice name: Ica Adventures Hostel. We met an dutch couple, that also wanted to go to the same hostel. When the woman from the front asked, where we wanted to be let out, the couple next to us said: “Ica Adventures Hostel 2”. We nodded since that was our destination as well. After a short thinking break, we remembered that we needed to go to Ica Adventures hostel 1, which was completely elsewhere. But no problem, a few words of bad spanisch and the Maps.Me map with the location of our hostel will definitely help.

So we showed her the Map and said we need to go to Ica Adventure Hostel UNO. She nodded and we we’re relived.

On Maps.Me we followed where we’re driving. We noticed that we we’re driving evermore in the direction to Huacachina, and not in the other direction. So we went to the woman again, with the Map, to which she answered:  “Si,si,si, uno momento, si,si si!”.

The two german girls in front of us wanted to go to Huacachina, so we talked with them a little bit.

We reached Ica Adventure hostel 2 and the dutch couple got out. Then the bus continued to drive in the wrong direction until we left Ica and ended up in Huacachina. When we showed her the map again, she said: “no, no, una Taxi.”

Well that worked out well.

Making the best of things

So, after being a little annoyed, we got a hold of ourselves and decided to make the best of it. The two german girls which we met in the bus wanted to do a tour and we decided to do a tour as well, since it was still early and we could go to the hostel later. So we booked a sandboarding tour.

We still had some time until the tour started, so we strolled around Huacachina and ate something. This beautiful Oasis in the desert is really worth seeing.

PS: Jessy is again in heaven.

SANDBOARDING – WOHOOOO!!!!

And then our tour started, with this awesome vehicle we drove into the desert.

The drive alone was action at it’s purest. STOP, turn your volume down, the screaming is loud!

How beautiful the desert was can only nearly be described, by the pictures we made at the stops.

The sandboarding was so fun, we only boarded on our stomachs, since there was not enough time to practice standing.

XIAOYI

The little people on top of the mountain is where we drove down from.

Here a little video, how it looks 😀 Unfortunately it was a little far away. We promise better videos when we sandboard next. It will definitely not be the last time.

The mountains where really high and we didn’t have to walk may mountains (which was really exhausting), because the car was waiting for us on the other side of the 3 mountains.

Then there was time for some photos when the sun went down in the desert.

Remember the pictures from Huacachina? Here you find how the Oasis looks from the desert.

We also had a lot of fun with our friends from the bus, the girls from Germany. In case you read this, I hope you had an awesome trip! PS: The girl on the right is Karo, and she has great pictures on Instagram. Check it out!

The wrong way 2

We went with Karo back to Ica via Taxi. She has gotten us a great price and we have mentioned a lot of times that we need to go to Ica Adventures UNO. They let Karo out first at the bus station and then us. I had a deja vu that I have been there before. Welcome back tu Ica Adventures 2.

The taxidriver was long gone. But no worries, the next tuktuk left us at the right hostel, finally.

The flight over the Nasca Lines

On the next day we booked a flight in Nasca over the Nasca lines. It was pretty cool, but that was ist. Actually the most exciting was the flight itself, since the airplane had to fly vertical so we could see the lines.

It was our first flight ever on a small airplane.

2 of 5 people puked during the flight (the one person next and behind me… yippie).

We felt sick afterwards. So, in this sense, see you next post!
